Finding The "Resident Since" Date On Your Green Card

The "Resident Since" date on your Green Card is a very important date. It will let you know how long you have been a permanent resident.

To find your Resident Since date:

  • Look at the front of your green card
  • Your Resident Since is the date right below the words "Resident Since" in the bottom right corner.
  • The date format is Month / Day / Year (MM/DD/YY)

Why the Resident Since date matters

For most applicants, the Resident Since date will be more than 5 years in the past. If the Resident Since date is between 3 years and 5 years in the past, the applicant must be married to a U.S. citizen to apply.
