Do You Meet The Three-Month-Requirement For Current Residency?
The Three-Month Residency Requirement is a rule set by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that requires citizenship applicants to live in the state or USCIS service district where they're applying for at least three months before filing their N-400 application.
The easy way to answer this question is to ask yourself "Have I moved in the last 3 months?"
If the answer is "no, I have not moved in the last 3 months.", then you meet the three month requirement.
If the answer is "yes, I've moved in the last three months." then you need to figure out if your move took you to a new USCIS service area. Enter your new zip code and your old zip code into the "Field office locator" on this page on the USCIS website.
If the same field office shows for both zip codes, that's good news! You meet the three month residency requirement.
If you see a different field office for the two zip codes, you do not meet the three month residency requirement. In this case, your best option is to wait until you have been at your current home for at least three months.
